Grace United Church has a long and storied history in Niagara. Below are a series of highlights in our history to date.

1786

Methodist preaching began in Niagara. |

1823
|
The Niagara Meeting House was built on Gate Street adjoining the Methodist Cemetery. |

1852
|
A "good brick building" was built on Victoria Street, then known as the Canada Presbyterian Church. |
|
1874
|
This building was then purchased by the Methodists who had outgrown the Meeting House. |
|
1897
|
The building of a school room at the rear of the Church was begun. |
|
1925
|
The United Church of Canada was formed by Union of the Congregational,Presbyterian, and Methodist Churches of Canada. Our local church was named GRACE UNITED. |

1926
|
Memorial Window installed to honour those killed in World War I. |
|
1929
|
Other windows installed to honour early Church founders. |
|
1965
|
The congregation of Virgil United Church joined the congregation at GRACE and a 2-point charge was formed with Carlton United in St. Catharines. |
|
1980
|
Renovations added an office and a Minister's Study. |
|
1984
|
Grace United Church required a full time minister and became a single-point charge. |
|
1998
|
Church Hall redecorated and folding partitions designed and built to form 3 classrooms. |

2001
|
Our modern kitchen completed by hard-working volunteers. |
